About

Mission

The Mission of the Oklahoma Association of Health Underwriters is to inform and protect the consumer by enhancing the professional growth of its members.

History of NAHU

The National Association began in 1930 just a few years following the first recorded plan of modern day group medical expense coverage of 1921. The original medical plan began when a hospital in Grinnell, Iowa offered hospital care on a prepaid basis to subscribers. Baylor University Hospital followed with a similar plan for the University faculty in 1929. Read the full story written by Wallace L. Clapp and Jim Henderson.
